NC Rep. Holding Issues Statement On White House Tours

by Lady Liberty on March 7, 2013

The Obama administration marches on, pushing more sequester fear mongering, state representatives and senators have issued statements to their voters.

Today Congressman George Holding sent the following letter to his constituents following the Obama administration’s announcement this week regarding White House tours:

Dear Friend,

The White House announced earlier this week that White House tours will be cancelled indefinitely starting this Saturday, March 9, 2013 due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration.

As you may know, sequestration, or automatic federal budget cuts, went into effect March 1st under the terms of a bipartisan budget law enacted in 2011. I am disappointed that the White House has chosen to cut public tours.

The impact of these automatic cuts extends well beyond White House tours. My Congressional office’s budget has also taken over an eight percent cut in funding – yet we will remain fully operational and ready to serve all of our communities and constituents. My office can help you with many issues ranging from overseas emergencies and veterans’ claims to Social Security disability applications and IRS problems. Please stop by my office at 3725 National Drive, Suite 101 in Raleigh or give us a call at 919-782-4400.

Although the White House has cancelled tours until further notice, tours of the United States Capitol will continue.  I encourage you and your family to visit the U.S. Capitol during your trip to Washington, D.C.  If you haven’t already made arrangements through my office for a Capitol tour, I encourage you to do so – simply contact my Washington office at 202-225-3032.  As always, I remain committed to serving you and the constituents of the 13th District, and I look forward to seeing you either in North Carolina or welcoming your visit to our Nation’s Capital.

Best,

George Holding
Member of Congress
